Presentation on BCRS at Guwahati

Bhaskar Bhuyan who runs C-Nes’ Brahmaputra Community Radio Station (BCRS) in Dibrugarh, Assam, with his dedicated team, presented on the Station’s Community broadcasts which reach large audiences in several languages on key issues of local and larger concern. He was joined by panelists who worked among char sapori communities in the riverine belt of Barpeta district, a technical specialist from Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) who set up net connectivity in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, and a DEF staffer who worked extensively with tea communities abd enabling digital connections in an underdeveloped area. They were participating in the 7th Community Indigenous and Mountain Communities gathering organized by Digital Empowerment Foundation, internet Society and Council for social and digital development at Guwahati on November 24-25, 2023.

BCRS has won awards for its broadcasting programmes from Community Radio of the year at the 6th International Radio Fair at Bhubaneswar (2020) as well as Manthan Award South Asia and Asia Pacific in December 2014.
The progrmme has regional, national and international participants including the Philippines and Nepal
