Prime Minister recognizes C-NES’ boat clinic initiative

Recognizing the unique initiative of C-NES in taking health services to the marginalized, socially and geographically excluded, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had warm words of praise for the programme in a recent visit to Assam. Calling it a "novel" effort, the Prime Minister described the program as an example of the "lead" that Assam was giving to the rest of the country in the healthcare facilities." Dr. Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha member of Parliament from Assam, was speaking at the Foundation Laying Ceremony of the Jorhat Medical College, on 25th August 2008. Present at the event were Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
