Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES), Guwahati, invites applications on contractual appointment for the following posts-

Assistant Program Manager:

Qualification: MSW or PG in Social Sciences/Sociology from a recognized university (Full Time)

Experience: At least 3 years working experience in NGO sector especially in program implementation and management.

Salary: Rs.25,000/- consolidated per month

Other benefits: Medi-claim insurance up to a limit of Rs.50,000/- and Accidental insurance benefits of Rs.1,00,000/-

Contract Period: 1 year which may be extended upon satisfactory performance of assigned responsibilities and duties.

Leave: 30 days paid leave and 6 days Medical leave

Job description:

  1. Will have to be travel extensively to different operational locations in order to lead and guide the district program unit teams
  2. Will have to be liaise with NHM, Govt. Health Administrative departments & NGOs, both at the district as well as state level
  3. Key role will be to supervise the health service program to the vulnerable island communities in the districts where Boat Clinics are operational
  4. Will have to be work in close coordination with Program Management Unit (Guwahati) and Delhi office
  5. Will be based at Regional Office, Guwahati but if required may be transferred to any project location within Assam.
  6. Will have to be work directly under the Project Director/ Managing Trustee and the Program Manager
  7. Will have to submit regular reports on the activities of the projects and also make evaluation and assessment of individual units
  8. Will have to develop plan, execute and prepare projects/ reports/ presentations etc. adhering to strict deadlines, liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis, identify and resolve issues/problems within the team
  9. Will have to be perform other duties and responsibilities as instructed to do so.

2. Research Associate:

Job description: Research Associate will coordinate projects for a region with the help of respective teams. The primary tasks and responsibilities will be to Plan and coordinate Research, Assessment and Evaluation studies for ongoing and new projects of C-NES. The candidate shall be expected to work on the following aspects.

  • Work in teams to design evaluation tools and formats based on pre-defined goals and indicators
  • Design, conduct and coordinate field level surveys
  • Conduct trainings and monitor survey on the field
  • Collate and analyze findings from the data collected
  • Present Reports on findings

To be able to perform the above tasks effectively and is expected to work in close coordination with state and district teams

Qualifications and competencies:

Educational Qualifications: Masters in Public Health (Full Time)

Proficiency in M.S. Office (Excel, Power Point and Word)

Strong communication skills (written and oral) to effectively correspond. This would require Proficiency in English + Hindi and Assamese

Ability to effectively coordinate assessment, monitoring and evaluation processes

Preferable criteria: At least 2 year working experience with reputed NGO, with at least one research project. Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and the ability to deal with large data sets with the help of analysis packages.

In addition to the above technical competencies and qualifications, the candidate should be:

Willing to travel extensively to anywhere in the North Eastern states (especially rural Assam) to conduct trainings, to coordinate and monitor evaluations on the field. He/ She should be able to adjust and work in tough field situations.  Able to handle work pressures and deliver under tight schedules. Able to work well in teams and lead teams. Liaison with government officials, institutions and organizations.

Salary: Rs.25,000/- consolidated per month
